Box Score LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Cal Lutheran on Homecoming at Jack Kemp Stadium on Saturday.
Brandon Kearney scored the game's only goal on a penalty kick in the 11th minute.
Oxy's best two chances came on a pair of headers in the second half. Elijah Remy sent a ball in to Liam Walsh that he put on the frame, but it was saved nicely, and Gabriel Barrett-Jackson had a header on the frame on a long ball played in off the left foot of Ryan Banard.
Cal Lu gave the Tigers a scare and nearly got its second goal in the 71st minute when Maxwell Sharpe had two consecutive shots from the 6-yard box blocked by the Oxy defense.
Oxy first year Scott Drazan played mostly well in his first collegiate start for the Tigers in the goal.
Season Impact: Oxy falls to 7-6 and 6-5. The Tigers remain in fourth place with 17 points, one point ahead of Pomona-Pitzer and four behind third-place Cal Lutheran. The top four teams advance tot the SCIAC Postseason Tournament that determines the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
Cal Lu improves its record to 9-3-1 and 7-2-1.
Next Game: The Tigers are back in action on Wednesday against La Verne at Jack Kemp Stadium.
Cal Lu faces Pomona-Pitzer at home on Wednesday.
