WHITTIER — Nicole Castro scored the game's only goal minutes before the final whistle as the Occidental women's soccer team picked up a solid road victory with a 1-0 win at Whittier on Saturday.

Castro found the top of the net in the 86th minute with a magnificent goal from 30 yards out.

"That was a tremendous goal worth of winning any game," Oxy head coach Colm McFeely said.

Sydney Tomlinson made three saves and Dallas Gunny made two saves in goal for the Tigers.

Oxy's Erin Iacullo created a lot of offensive opportunities, firing five shots with a pair on goal.

Season Impact: The Tigers improve to 5-4-1 overall, 3-4-1 in SCIAC play and is very much in the hunt for the four-team SCIAC tournament . Oxy sits in a tie for fifth place with 10 points, but is just two points behind Redlands in third place.

Whittier falls to 5-6 and 2-6.
