LOS ANGELES — Carly Zurcher led the Occidental women's water polo team with four goals as the Tigers beat Macalester, 12-8 in Game 2 of a doubleheader on Saturday.

The Tigers played at Cal Lutheran earlier in the day, falling 10-4.

Zurcher, Oxy's leader in goals this season, scored six goals on the day, leading Oxy with two of the Tigers' four scores in Thousand Oaks.

Amanda Akiyama and Lori Berberian scored two goals against Macalester, and Hi'ipoi Lee, Claudia Oppermann, Abby Appel and Monica Chernoff all added one.

Appel and Zulema Iboa-Garcia rounded out Oxy's scorers with a goal each against Cal Lu.

"We played great 5-on-6 defense in both games today," Oxy head coach Jack Stabenfeldt said. "Offensively, we are creating opportunities and our defensive awareness is growing."

Season Impact: Oxy improves to 5-12 on the season. After starting the year 0-9, the Tigers have won five of their last eight.

Next Game: Oxy is back in action against Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
