LOS ANGELES — Ciara Byrne, Sierra Slack and Alessandra Pelliccia were a three-headed monster on Wednesday night, combining for 14 of Oxy's goals as the Tigers beat Redlands 16-11 at Jack Kemp Stadium.
Pelliccia took over in the second half down the stretch, scoring four of her game-high six goals in the last 16:25 to hold off every run the Bulldogs made.
It wasn't just Pelliccia's offense that was spectacular. The first year from McLean, Va. also secured nine draw controls and three ground balls.
Slack and Byrne each scored four goals.
Marie Whitmore and Kallyn Song-Nichols each had a goal and an assist, rounding out Oxy's scorers.
Redlands was led by Dulce Moll and Sadie Pickering who each scored four times.
Emma Barrow had a very good game with four caused turnovers and six ground balls for the Tigers.
Oxy got its advantage with a 7-2 run that started at the end of the first half and lasted 5 minutes into the second half, putting the Tigers up 12-8 with 21:47 to play in the game.
Redlands cut the Tigers' lead to 12-10 with a pair of scores, but Pelliccia answered with two in a row of her own.
Redlands scored the first three goals of the game, before Slack got Oxy on the board almost 7 minutes into the game.
Season Impact: The Tigers improve to 9-2 overall and 3-2 in SCIAC play.
Redlands falls to 6-3 and 2-2.
Next Game: Oxy is back in action at Whittier on Saturday at 4 p.m.
