ORANGE — Ciara Byrne and Alessandra Pelliccia each scored three goals, and Sierra Slack added two goals and one assist.

But the Occidental women's lacrosse team couldn't pull off the upset, losing 17-10 at Chapman in the semifinals of the SCIAC Postseason Tournament on Saturday.

The Tigers went on a 4-1 run to end the game, but a stretch of seven unaswered goals from the Panthers, beginning in the first half and lasting well into the second half, put the game out of reach.

Emma Barrow, who was named First Team All-SCIAC last week, had a big game for Oxy with seven draw controls, a goal and an assist. 

Pelliccia earned SCIAC Offensive Player of the Year honors, and Byrne and Slack both were recognized as All-SCIAC as well. 

The Tigers' lone senior Rebecca Reese scored a goal and had an assist, rounding out Oxy's scorers. 

Shai Goodman had an impressive six ground balls for Oxy.

Becka Watchel led the Panthers with a game-high five goals and Stacey Zuppa added four goals and four assists. 

Oxy finishes the year at 11-6 overall and in third place at 5-5 in the SCIAC regular season.

Chapman was a tough matchup for Oxy, beating the Tigers three times. Oxy also had a pair of losses and a loss at Redlands.

In non-conference play, Oxy was nearly untouchable, going 6-1.
