Panthers Edge Tigers in Orange County

ORANGE — The Occidental women's soccer team fell 1-0 in a road match at Chapman on Wednesday.

Oxy had chances to score with 12 shots total and eight of them on goal, but couldn't find the net.

Shelby Brown scored the game's only goal on a corner kick in the 52nd minute. The 1-0 cushion was all Chapman needed to hold off Oxy. 

Season Impact: The Tigers falls to 7-2-4 overall and 6-2-4 in SCIAC.

With two conference games to play, Oxy remains in second place in the SCIAC standings prior to the 7 p.m. SCIAC games on Wednesday. The Tigers are looking to secure a spot in the four-team SCIAC Postseason Tournament that determines the conference's at-large bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs. The Tigers are tied with Redlands at 22 points and trail Pomona-Pitzer by one point.

Chapman improves to 8-9 overall and 4-7 in SCIAC.

Next Game: The Tigers are back in action on Oct. 24 against Caltech at 4 p.m. at Jack Kemp Stadium. Oxy finishes the regular season at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Oct. 27.
