Box Score REDLANDS — The Occidental women's soccer team picked up a solid 2-1 road victory at Redlands on Saturday, moving up to fourth place in the SCIAC standings.
Anaise Nugent scored the first goal in the 37th minute, capitalizing on a penalty kick after a foul in the box, placing it in the upper corner.
Layla Devlin provided the insurance in the 54th minute, connecting well in a crowded box to find the corner.
Redlands scored to cut the lead in half and make things interesting with a goal from Abby Norquist in the 63rd minute, but Oxy was able to hang on.
Oxy goalkeeper Maggie Baird made six saves in the net for the Tigers.
The Tigers played quality soccer against a physical Redlands squad.
Season Impact: The Tigers improve to 9-3-1 overall and 5-3-1 in SCIAC. As of 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night, the Tigers are in fourth with 16 points, two ahead of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and one behind Chapman, with three regular season SCIAC games to play.
Oxy is in position to return to the SCIAC postseason and defend its SCIAC Tournament Championship.
Redlands falls to 5-6-3 and 4-2-1.
