LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's soccer team had chances for the victory, but after 110 minutes of soccer, the Tigers had to settle for one point in a 1-1 tie against Pomona-Pitzer at Jack Kemp Stadium on Wednesday night.
Both goals came in the first half not far apart from each other. Pomona-Pitzer's Jorge Guillen-Lopez scored the first goal of the game in the 29th minute and then Oxy's Ryan Wilson scored the equalizer in the 34th.
The result keeps Oxy in very good playoff contention as the season winds down, with two regular-season road games to go. There are a number of scenarios in play, but Oxy can likely clinch a spot in the four-team SCIAC tournament with a win over Chapman in its next game.
Oxy was the No. 3 seed last season and ended up narrowly missing its first SCIAC Championship in a loss to Chapman in the final at Oxy.
