LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's soccer teams' payback will have to wait.
The Tigers fell behind, equalized and then gave up two late goals in a 3-1 loss to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at Jack Kemp Stadium on Saturday night.
The last time the teams met, Oxy was playing for a share of its first ever SCIAC Regular Season Championship, but fell to the Stags 1-0 on a penalty kick in overtime.
William Barton scored CMS' first goal in the 5th minute, stealing the ball from Oxy's defense, taking a touch to his right and beating a diving Will Baltrus to the bottom right.
Oxy evened the score at 1-1 on a corner kick in the 65th minute. Jack Meeker played a perfect ball in to the near post where Adrian Paredes sprinted on to the end of it and headed it in for the equalizer.
Paredes has now scored a team-best three goals on the season, two of them headers.
CMS scored its game-winning play on a beautiful one-timed cross from Daniel Rhode to Adam Singer, who headed it in at the back post in the 73rd minute.
Just moments later Jake Allmon scored the insurance goal on a break, taking a touch to his right and beating Drazan on the bottom left.
The game began to open up late in the second half with both teams earning a handful of opportunities.
Season Impact: The Tigers fall to 4-2-2 overall and 1-1 in SCIAC.
CMS improves to 5-2 and 2-0 in SCIAC.
