Los Angeles, CA — The Occidental Tigers cruised to a 3-1 victory Wednesday night over the Cal Lutheran Kingsman and extended their winning streak to five in a row.
The Tigers had a quick start as midfielder Adrian Paredes' header was parried by Cal Lutheran goalkeeper Ivan Lumbrano which allowed Oxy defender Evan Karp to put away the loose ball and give the Tigers the lead just 7 minutes into the game. The Tigers added to their advantage in the 20th minute off of an impressive team goal. Forward Jake Foster flicked on a long ball to midfielder Nicolas Eble who backheeled the ball to forward Marcus Chmielewski who put the ball in the back of the net to give Oxy the 2-0 lead. The Kingsmen answered just a minute later with a goal of their own as midfielder Justin Magana scored on a tremendous volley from outside the penalty box.
The Tigers opened the second half quickly as Jake Foster set up defender Christian Corcoran who powered the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead. Oxy goalkeeper Scott Drazan had a particularly strong night with 7 saves which included a remarkable double save with 19 minutes left in the game. Both sides had many opportunities to score as Oxy outshot Cal Lutheran by a 20-13 margin.
Next Game: The Tigers will look to get revenge next Wednesday night when they head to play Redlands at 7:00 p.m.
