Santa Cruz, CA — The Occidental Tigers lost on Saturday after the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs scored the game's lone goal with less than two minutes remaining in the match.

Both teams played strong defense in the first half and neither side was able to break the game open. That trend continued into the second half and it wasn't until the 89th minute when the Banana Slugs found a goal. UC Santa Cruz midfielder Amanda Scott was able to set up forward Payton Chichowski one-on-one with Oxy goalkeeper Maggie Baird who was unable to prevent Chicowski's shot from hitting the back of the net. The late goal kept the game from heading to overtime and sealed the Banana Slugs' victory. UC Santa Cruz outshot the Tigers 11-7, however Oxy had five shots on target to their three.

Next Game: The Tigers will finish their 3-game road stretch at Whittier College on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
