Claremont, CA — Occidental dominated Whittier College on Wednesday night and had three first half goals which propelled them to a big 4-0 win.
The Tigers got off to a fast start when midfielder Kyra Bethune lasered a shot into the goal from 25 yards out. Tigers midfielder Ella Endo scored another magnificent goal just 20 minutes later as she chipped the Poets goalkeeper from a difficult angle to double the Oxy lead. The Tigers scored again just 10 minutes before the end of the first half when forward Anaise Nugent headed in a ball from midfielder Chloe Hetzel off of a free kick. Nugent got her second goal of the game in the second half when midfielder Madison Delmonte crossed the ball to Nugent who scored again with her head. The Tigers were dominant on offense as they outshoot the Poets 15-4. Whittier goalkeepers Arizbeth Juarez and Vanessa Martinez combined for nine saves on the night while Oxy goalkeeper Ingrid Odmark made two saves to keep the clean sheet.
Next Game: Occidental will take on conference leaders Pomona-Pitzer this Saturday afternoon during Homecoming weekend. Additionally, this is Oxy's senior game and will be recognizing seniors prior to kickoff.
