Los Angeles, CA — The Occidental Tigers came back from a 1-0 deficit with two second half goals to beat rivals Pomona-Pitzer at Homecoming.
Both teams played solid defense in the first half and neither team found a breakthrough goal. The Sagehens managed to score five minutes into the second half when midfielder Jorge Guillen-Lopez tapped in a low cross to give Pomona-Pitzer a 1-0 lead. The Tigers roared back in the 75th minute when forward Matthew Teplitz smashed a shot into the back of the net. Oxy capitalized on their new found momentum in the 81st minute when midfielder Joey Schwartz's corner kick was headed into the goal by defender Evan Karp. As the Tigers worked hard to prevent a comeback, Sagehen goalkeeper Ethan Bae committed an egregious foul in the 89th minute and received a red card. The Tigers out shot the Sagehens 8-4 during the match.
Next Game: The Tigers will look to continue their success Wednesday afternoon when they host conference leaders Claremont-Mudd Scripps.
