Los Angeles, CA — The Tigers controlled much of Wednesday night's match against the Stags, but could not find the game winner in overtime.
The Tigers offense was energized from the start as forward Marcus Chmielewski had a shot go just wide in the 9th minute. Oxy kept the pressure on CMS, but weren't able to find the back of the net until the 72nd minute. Midfielder Nicolas Eble made a terrific run into the penalty box and chipped the ball to the back post where defender Neython Streitz headed the ball into the goal. However, the Tigers weren't able to see the game out as the resilient Stags found a goal of their own in the 89th minute. CMS defender Grant Donaldson managed to head the ball in for a goal off of a CMS throw in. Neither team was able to score in the following overtime periods and the game ended in a 1-1 draw. Oxy goalkeeper Scott Drazan made 7 saves throughout the match including one key diving save in the second overtime half to prevent a CMS victory.
Next Game: The Tigers will host the Caltech Beavers on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. for senior day.
