Los Angeles, CA – The Occidental women's soccer team traveled to Whittier for their seventh SCIAC match of the season. After a long battle with the Poets, the Tigers were unable to return to Eagle Rock with the win. Poet, Shayla Sakkakhanaune, scored a goal in the 86th minute of the match, ending the game 0-1, Poets.
Although the Tigers suffered a loss, they surely left everything on the field and fought until the final whistle was blown. Olivia Haga led the team with her 3 shots against the Poet keeper. Maggie Baird did a great job in the net, saving 7 of the 8 shots on goal by the Poets. Overall, the Tigers had 9 shots and 4 corners against the Poets.
The Poets were very aggressive and surely challenged the Tigers. They were able to get 17 shots at the Tigers. Juliana Hodgson and Layla Traylor led their team with 4 shots each.
The Tigers are back at home to compete against Cal Lutheran at Patterson on Wednesday, October 12 at 7:00 p.m.
