Los Angeles, CA – The Occidental women's soccer team competed in another away game against the University of La Verne. To start the match off, the Tigers put away an early goal to put themselves ahead going into the second half. This situation must have angered the Leopards prompting them to come out hard in the second half. La Verne got a goal early into the half to tie the score but less than a minute later, the Tigers took the lead again. Unfortunately, the Leopards got in one last goal against the Tigers to tie the game 2-2.
Kara Overnell was eager to get her name on the map with a goal nearing the end of the first half with an assist from Anna Fukushima. The second goal to break the tie was from Grace Denny off of a free kick from Gigi Yamamoto and a touch from Madi Delmonte.
The Leopards' persistence throughout the match was extremely admirable. Alyssa Moran and Shelbie Mueller were the two Leopard goal scorers to eventually tie the game.
The Tigers continue their away series with a match against Whittier College at Whitter on Wednesday, October 5 at 4:00 p.m.
