Los Angeles, CA - On the Saturday and Sunday before the holiday weekend, Oxy hosted Cal Luthern, Cal Tech, and Redlands for the annual Oxy Invite. Both the mens and womens teams had phenomenal performances, but the women's team did particularly well, winning the meet for the Tigers.
A few highlights from the diving team; Audra Burch led the Tigers in the women's 1 meter diving placing second with 198.45 points followed by teammates Elsie Cady (4th, 195.60), and Callie Rice (5th, 191.75). On the men's side Isaac had a fantastic meet winning the men's 1 meter diving with 208.45 points. Audra also had a strong performance on the 3 meter placing 3rd with 188 points followed by Elsie (4th, 177.05).
Starting off the meet super strong, Oxy scored major points in the women's 400 medley relay. The A relay who consisted of Marisa Emoto, Julia Mayuzimi-Shiroishi, Emily Szcopa, and Sarah Radle placed first in a time of 3:57.45 followed by the B relay (Megan Chow, Florence Lo, Candace Farling, and Nathalie Kerrigan, 3rd, 4:02.08), and the C relay (Carline Agostini, Sophia Vitek, Kamille Pellettieri, and Chanel Ng, 5th, 4:05.94).
The Freestyle depth was on display this past weekend for the Tigers. In the 200 free, Sarah Radle led the Tigers placing second in a time of 1:55.52 followed by Nathalie Kerrigan (3rd, 1:57.47), Amanda George (5th, 1:59.68), Chanel Ng (7th, 2:00.32), Caroline Agostini (11th, 2:05.50), Kamille Pelletieri (12th, 2:05.73), Sam Edington (20th, 2:12.43), and Rachel Lilenthal (21st, 2:12.52). Alex To was the highest finisher on the men's side finishing 6th in a time of 1:43.68 followed by Compton French (17th, 1:53.51), Luca Nisimblat (18th, 2:00.56), and Sam Walker (20th, 2:06.57).
Lowering her previous season best, first year Julia Mayuzimi-Shiroishi continued her dominance in breaststroke winning the 100 breast in a time of 1:07.52. She was followed by Florence Lo (2nd, 1:08.32), Sophia Vitek (5th, 1:09.99), Alyssa Pfitzer Price (8th, 1:14.36), and Kay McIntosh (10th, 1:18.19). On the men's side Nate Pitroff stayed consistent for the Tigers placing 3rd and also lowering his season best to 57.49. He was followed by Matthew Spruance (9th, 58.88), Peyton Resto (11th, 1:01.07), and Will Thomas (15th, 1:02.67).
To close out the fantastic meet for the team there were a few school records broken! Starting off with the individual events, Sarah Radle lowered her own school record in the 100 freestyle from 52.09 to 51.44. She was soon followed by the A 400 freestyle relay that broke the women's school record in the event. The relay that consisted of Sarah Radle, Emily Szopa, Nathalie Kerrigan, and Marisa Emoto went 3:29.94.
Overall, the Tigers were faster than they have been all season, setting them up nicely for SCIACs in February!
