Los Angeles, CA – The Tiger's played a great game against Cal Lutheran University last Wednesday night.
The game started with Sydney Shipp making a layup and Anthony Hollerich making a three point shot; however, Cal Lu's Charlie Lee and Brooks Mallory were able to keep up with the shots making the scores pretty even. The game kept going at a rather slow pace in the first half with each team scoring the same.
During the second half the Tigers stepped up and made the game much more interesting. After Cal Lu being fouled out, Hollerich was able to make both his free throw shots for Oxy allowing the team to close the gap between the scores. The new energy on the court allowed for Hollerich to score a layup with an assist from Williams - an up and coming dynamic duo on the court these days. Seconds later, Dosa made a three point shot followed by Williams and Nishi making some as well, closing the gap between the scores. With just two minutes left in the game, Hollerich's free throw shot tied the teams at 74-74 causing the crowd to stay on their toes. The teams remained close in score until the very end with Hollerich able to get a lot of the last shots in. Although Oxy ended two points behind Cal Lu, in the end it was a great effort by the team.
Next game: Occidental College will be playing CalTech on Saturday, February 5th at 2:00pm at Occidental College.
