Whittier, CA — The Occidental Tigers played the Whitter Poets on Wednesday in their second SCIAC conference game of the season. In the first quarter, the Tigers took charge in the pool and held off the Poet's offense. At the end of the quarter, Jillian Miller (Irvine, CA) and Abigail Lavold (Tacoma, WA) both found the back of the net to put the Tigers ahead. In a very defense-heavy second quarter, the Tigers had four steals and drew one exclusion. To start off the third quarter, Koko Butcher (Honolulu, HI) took a shot from half-court and scored, tying the Tigers up with the Poets. Then, Olivia Montgomery (Eugene, OR) topped the score off immediately after. The Tigers started off the fourth quarter strong with their third sprint win of the game. Abigail Lavold scored halfway through the quarter to keep the Tigers in the game, though the game ended in favor of the Poets 10-5.
Ally Burke led the Poets with four goals.
