Los Angeles, CA– On Wednesday night, the Occidental women's lacrosse team had their first conference match against CMS. The Athenas were tough competition for the Tigers, but they pushed through. Unfortunately, after going scoreless in the second quarter, Oxy was unable to make up the points resulting in a 8-22 loss. Although a rough start to the season, this loss gives the Tigers plenty of room to improve as the season progresses.
Annie Dolan had an outstanding game and led her team with 3 goals. Additionally, Bella Litt's hard work helped her teammates succeed resulting in 3 assists. Litt also led the Tigers with 5 shots on goal. Another outstanding Tiger is goalie Haley Jones who matched up against CMS's goalie with 7 saves. Overall, the Tiger's aggression and strength put immense pressure on the Athenas, forcing 11 turnovers and 12 ground balls.
The Athenas worked well together to work the ball around the Tigers and were able to get off shots on goals. Alex Futterman led her team with 7 goals.
