St. Paul, MN — The Occidental Tigers traveled to Minnesota to compete against Augustana College, Wittenberg University, Carthage College, and Macalester College in the Macalester Tournament. After overcoming numerous obstacles throughout the past three weeks, the Tigers took this tournament to learn the ins and outs of the team.
The Tigers started off their weekend playing Augustana College from Rock Island, Illinois with a strong first quarter. Abigail Lavold (Tacoma, WA) put three goals in the cage (two in the first, and one in the fourth quarter), dominating the Tiger's offense. The Tigers gathered their strengths and adapted quickly to the fast-paced game by creating new opportunities in every position. In the second quarter, Jillian Miller (Irvine, CA), Norah Ruvalcaba (Moreno Valley, CA), and Abigail Anderson (Oak Park, CA) all scored, leading the Tigers to a closer game. Abigail Anderson found the back of the net again in the third quarter, while the Tigers hustled to keep up their defense. Though the Tigers put up a fight, the game ended in Augustana's favor with a final score of 11-7.
Alyssa Fricker scored four goals against Occidental, coming out as the top scorer for Augustana.
