La Verne, CA — The Occidental Tigers faced the La Verne Leopards on Wednesday. The Tigers beat the Leopards on every sprint to start all four quarters, with Olivia Montgomery (Eugene, OR) and Abigail Lavold (Tacoma, WA) winning two each. Abigail Lavold was the first to score at the beginning of the game. Then, Kayla Lin (Palo Alto, CA) found the back of the net on a powerplay. With seven seconds left in the first quarter, Marisa Lipari (Sunnyvale, CA) put it in the back of the cage. The Tigers headed into the second quarter with positive energy, despite being down five players due to injury and sickness. Abigail Lavold beat the goalie again and put it in the goal. Kayla Lin found the perfect shot again on a powerplay, bringing the Tigers closer to the Leopards. In the third quarter, Koko Butcher (Honolulu, HI) found the back of the net. Then, Marisa Lipari deposited a shot in the cage on another powerplay, ending the third quarter. As the game started wrapping up, the Tigers kept their energy up with Koko Butcher and Abigail Lavold shooting and scoring again in the fourth quarter. Although the Tigers battled hard, the game ended in the Leopards' favor with a score of 17-9.
Jassmine Kezman led the Leopards with five goals.
