Los Angeles, CA – On Wednesday, the Occidental women's lax team challenged the Whittier Poets at home. After weeks of hard work and competing against other SCIAC schools, the Tigers secured another win to their record. The Tigers kept up the intensity the entire game with the offenses' constant shots on goal and the defense holding down the fort.
Dylan Herbert kicked off the game with a goal assisted by Bella Litt less than a minute into the first period. Herbert continued on to score another goal and ended the game to lead in ground balls. To no one's surprise, Bella Litt had another outstanding game with five goals and followed Herbert with four ground balls. Overall, all of the players on the field worked extremely well together. Their game was on point from start to finish. Although not all of the players scored goals or won ground balls, each Tiger played a crucial role in obtaining the win. This shows in the 36 shots, 19 ground balls, 17 Poet turnovers, and 14 goalie saves.
The Poets were led by Payton Climer with three goals and eight ground balls. After being down in the first half, Whittier came out stronger to tie the third period and win the last period. This shows persistence and determination that forced the Tigers to continue fighting for the win.
Next Game: The Tigers will face the Sagehens for the second time this season on Saturday, April 23 at Pomona, CA at 7:00 p.m.
