Los Angeles, CA — The Oxy men's soccer team took to the road on Wednesday night and traveled to Farquhar Field to face off against the University of Redlands Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs were able to get on the board twice in the 1st half, but the Tigers showed their toughness by continuing to put pressure on Redland's defense. This was evident by Oxy coming out in the second half and totaling 14 shots in the second half compared to Redland's 5.
As the Tigers were looking to make a push in the early part of the 2nd half, Vicente Navarro controlled the ball at midfield as he noticed an opportunity to attack. Navarro made a strong kick that found Andrew Notter at the end of it perfectly in stride making his way past Bulldog defenders.
Notter was able to finish off the attack with a well placed kick for the goal that would cut the deficit in half to 2-1. Oxy would be able to put together plenty of other attacks to have good looks at the goal but the Bulldog goalkeeper was able to make saves on multiple occasions to keep the Tigers from equalizing the score.
Redlands was able to secure the 2-1 victory as the Tigers are now 1-1-1 in conference play.
Next Game: Occidental men's soccer is at home in another SCIAC matchup with CMS on Saturday September 24th at 7:00 PM.
