Los Angeles, CA – Due to the heatwave, the Occidental women's soccer team went head to head against McMurry early Sunday morning. The insane heat did not stop the Tigers from coming out on top. After battling for 73 minutes, first year, Kara Overnell, came through with a goal off of Madison Delmonte's free kick. This caused the Warhawks to increase the pressure on the Tigers, but the Tigers were able to keep them at bay until the final whistles were blown.

The superstar first year, Overnell, kept the McMurry goalie on her toes with five shots, taking the lead for the Tigers. Truly, all of the Tigers that stepped onto the pitch did extremely well. Each tackle was hard, each shot was well placed, and the composure was well kept. The future is bright for these Tigers.

McMurry was a very tough competitor. The players were strong and very smart on the ball. McKenna Standifer had an outstanding game with her continuous shots on goal. Goalie Priscilla Carus also defended the goal very well, which made it very difficult for Oxy to land one in the back of the net.

Next Sunday, September 11, the Tigers will host Washington University (Mo.) at 11:00 a.m.
