Los Angeles, CA — The Occidental men's soccer team came up just short of a comeback in an early morning Labor Day matchup with Berry.

Berry was able to jump out ahead quickly, scoring in the 8th minute of the game to take a 1-0 lead. They would add on another one just before the end of the 1st half to increase their lead to 2-0.

Oxy was putting together good passes to lead to many shots on goal, totaling 20 shots for the game with 11 being on goal. The Berry goalkeeper was able to make nice saves on well placed shots by Oxy players that could have easily found the back of the net.

The Tigers refused to ease up and continued to make pushes until the end of the game. Oxy's continued pressure led to a solid goal from Marcus Chmielewski coming on an assist from Sam Jenkins cutting Berry's lead in half and putting Oxy within 1 goal of tying the game.

In the last 13 minutes of the game Oxy strung together good ball movement to put pressure on Berry's goalie, but the Vikings were able to just hold on for a 2-1 victory.

Next Game: The Tigers will head to Master's College for their next game on Wednesday September 7th.
