Los Angeles, CA - On Friday the Tigers hosted the Trinity Tigers for a fun and fast dual meet. The first of 2023! The meet consisted only of shorter events to give the swimmers chances to swim races they can't normally swim (50's of stroke). The Tigers swam fast despite the intense training over the week leading up to the meet.
Starting off strong with the diving portion of the meet Callie Rice came in second on the women's 1mtr diving followed by Audra Burch (3rd) and Elsie Cady (5th). Isaac Basset continued strong placing 2nd in the mens 3mtr diving and 1mtr diving.
Moving on to swimming. The teams decided to switch up the relays and have mixed gender medley and freestyle relays. Oxy's A relay had a really strong performance coming in second. The relay was made up of Vadim Fedutinov, Nate Pitroff, Emily Szopa, and Sarah Radle and finished in a time of 3:50.84. Continuing to the first event, the 200 Freestyle Oxy had a strong showing in this event. Amanda George was Oxy's highest finisher placing third in a time of 2:04.23 followed by Caroline Agostini (5th, 2:07.65), Campbell Gilbert (6th, 2:12.71), and Rachel Lilienthal (7th, 2:13.21).
Continuing Oxy's domination in breaststroke, Julia Mayuzimu-Shiroishi took first place by one one hundredth of a second in the 50 Breastroke in a time of 31.34. She was followed by teammates Florence Lo (3rd, 31.96), Sophia Vitek (7th, 33.61), Chanel Ng (9th, 34.75), and Eloise Sundal (10th, 36.08). On the men's side Nate Pitroff lead the way finishing second in a time of 27.19 followed by Josh Biggs (6th, 28.41), Compton French (8th, 29.31), Tommy Hoffman (9th, 29.60), and Peyton Resto (10th, 30.64).
Moving onto some freestyle action. Nathalie Kerrigan lead the Tigers in the women's 50 free placing second in a time of 25.74 followed by Sophia Vitek (6th, 26.29), Alison Wong (8th, 26.70), Chanel Ng (26.94), and Alyssa Pfitzer Price (11th, 28.07). The men came speeding back in this event. Josh Biggs took first place in a time of 21.32 followed by Alex To (4th, 22.31), Compton French (5th, 22.76), and Luca Nisimblat (6th, 23.76).
Finishing off strong with the mixed gender 400 freestyle relay, Oxy had a fantastic race with the A relay finishing second overall in a time of 3:27.17. The relay was made up of Alex To, Nathalie Kerrigan, Sarah Radle, Josh Biggs. Overall, Oxy is looking fantastic for their upcoming championship meet in February!
Next Meet: Oxy will host La Verne and Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday, 1/14. Diving will take place at 10 a.m. and the swim portion will begin at 11 a.m.
