Los Angeles, CA — Men's basketball traveled to Orange County for a SCIAC matchup with the Chapman University Panthers.
Both teams were well matched as the game was extremely close throughout the entire 1st half. Bernard Cassidy had an impressive 1st half in which he shot perfect from the field (6-6 FG) and scored 12 points. Anthony Hollerich was also very efficient in the half shooting 6-12 from the field and scoring 14 points.
The Tigers would close the half out strong and take a 4 point lead into halftime with a 45-41 score. Chapman would come out of the locker room ready to go as they had a quick start to the 2nd half and were able to take a lead.
This game would go all the way down to the wire as there was a 1-point differential in the score for multiple minutes as the clock ticked down. Sydney Shipp had a huge and-1 that gave the Tigers a 1 point lead with 9 minutes left in the game.
Aiden Williams would follow with a 3-pointer soon after and Andrew Waldman would make a layup that made the score 75-73 in favor of the Tigers. Chapman would begin to knock down some clutch shots that put them ahead and they were able to separate the score to keep the Tigers at bay despite Oxy making jump shots to keep themselves in the game.
The Panthers would be able to hold on to their lead and win by a score of 93-85. Anthony Hollerich had a great game for the Tigers, scoring 28 points and grabbing 3 rebounds. Sydney Shipp had 21 points and also distributed the ball very well with 8 assists.
Next Game: The Tigers will be in action on January 16th in a matchup against the Caltech Beavers for the 110 Rivalry Game.
