Los Angeles, CA — The Occidental Men's Water Polo team played McKendree University for their last game of the Gary Troyer Tournament this past weekend. The Tigers started off strong with a goal from Oliver Wilkins (Seattle, WA) on a powerplay, with the assist awarded to Lars Schubert. Then, the Tigers drew a penalty and Aiden Cawley (Chicago, IL) was able to convert. After a few back and forth plays, Wilkins scored again on a powerplay. In the second quarter, Cawley found his second goal of the game on another powerplay with help from Zane Derrod (Chula Vista, CA). Then, Cawley scored yet again on a powerplay but this time with the pass coming from Wilkins. At the end of the half, Christian Guillaume (Ventura, CA) fired a shot into the goal with help from Schubert. In the third quarter, Wilkins beat the goalie again with help from Schubert, and then Schubert scored a goal of his own with the assist from Tate Miller (San Anselmo, CA). Shortly after, Schubert scored two more times, both with help from Cawley, then T. Miller shot and scored with help from Schubert. Then with twenty-eight seconds left in the third quarter, Cawley found the perfect shot to leave the Tigers on a high note going into the fourth. To finish off the game, Guillaume added another goal to the scoresheet on a powerplay, with help from Cawley. Then, Travis Hughes (Corte Madera, CA) scored two back-to-back goals with the assists awarded to T. Miller and Cawley. On defense, the Tigers drew eleven exclusions and had twelve steals, with Schubert taking three of them. Final Score: 15-7 Oxy.
