Los Angeles, CA – On Homecoming Saturday, the Occidental women's volleyball team hosted the University of La Verne, who are currently second in the conference. Coming off of Friday night, Oxy was fired up to have a good match to celebrate Homecoming. Ultimately the Leopards claimed the match in three, but it was tightly contested. The set scores were 25-19, 25-19, and 25-20.
Set two saw the Tigers take an early lead with a score of 9-5 before the Leopards were able to bring it to a tie at 10 all. Oxy battled back to bring it to another tie at 13 all. While they didn't let La Verne get a comfortable lead, they did chase the Leopards the rest of the set. In the final set after falling behind nine points, the Tigers made an incredible comeback by reducing the gap to only one point. With the score 21-20, the Leopards claimed the last four points to end the match.
The Tigers play tonight at Cal Lutheran University at 7 p.m.
