Los Angeles, CA — The Occidental men's basketball team got their season started on the road against Caltech in a non-conference version of the 100 Rivalry game.
The game got off to a close start with both teams trading baskets on offense. Jacob Koretz was big for the Tigers in the first half, and about halfway through the half he scored back to back baskets for the Tigers before Henry Wilson knocked down a three to extend Oxy's lead to 10 points.Â
Nicky Clotfelter contributed his 6 points in the first half just before the end of the half to help Oxy take a 29-13 lead into the halftime break of the game. Clotfelter also hit a three coming out to start the 2nd half to get Oxy going. The Tigers were playing strong defense and putting together good offensive possessions to be able to increase their lead late into the second half.Â
The Tigers would end up winning by 19 points in this contest by a score of 62-43. It was a great start to the season for the Tigers. Jacob Koretz led Oxy with 18 points while also tallying 4 rebounds and 4 assists in the game. Henry Wilson and Nicky Clotfelter also contributed 15 and 14 points, respectively.Â
Chase Miller led Oxy with 4 assists and also picked up 2 rebounds. Jacob Hamermesh was big on the glass for the Tigers as he grabbed 6 rebounds, including three offensive rebounds.Â
Oxy will take on Stanton University next on Saturday, November 11th at 6pm in Rush Gymnasium.
