OXY BATTLES AGAINST D1 TEAM CAL STATE FULLERTON

Claremont, CA — The Occidental Women's Water Polo team went up against Cal State Fullerton in their second game on Saturday. Abby Anderson was the first to score with a great shot from the post on a powerplay. That assist was awarded to Ruby Vogel (San Mateo, CA). Then, Koko Butcher (Honolulu, HI) fired a lob shot from over halfway that beat the goalie, with help from Olivia Montgomery (Eugene, OR). With fifteen seconds left in the third quarter, Montgomery struck a quick shot with the assist from Vogel on another powerplay. In the fourth quarter, Montgomery scored again on a powerplay with help from Marisa Lipari (Sunnyvale, CA). Then, Butcher scored on the post on another powerplay with help from Montgomery. The Tigers converted four out of their seven powerplays in this game. Defensively, the Tigers drew seven exclusions, and had eight steals, Norah Ruvalcaba (Moreno Valley, CA) and Butcher took three each. Final Score: 11-5 Fullerton.

Mia Solorzano led Fullerton with four goals.
