Oxy Beats FPU at the Inland Empire Classic Tournament

Redlands, CA — The Occidental Men's Water Polo team went up against Fresno Pacific University for their second game of the weekend. The first quarter started out slow with both teams fighting for the first goal, until Danny Miller found the back of the goal with the assist from Oliver Wilkins (Seattle, WA). Shortly after, Zane Derrod (San Diego, CA) added another goal for the Tigers with help from Max Stone (San Diego, CA). Then, Lars Schubert scored a buzzer beater to end the first quarter with the assist awarded to Stone. In the second quarter, Aiden Cawley (Chicago, IL) found his first goal of the game on a five-meter attempt. Then, Stone added another with help from Derrod. As the game continued, the Tigers continued to dominate on offense, with Christian Guillaume (Ventura, CA) beating the goalie on a shot with the pass coming from Schubert. Then, Travis Hughes (Corte Madera, CA) also scored for the Tigers with help from Guillaume. In the second half of the game, Schubert and Guillaume found the back of the net again with the assists from Hughes. Cawley and Tate Miller (San Anselmo, CA) both score on powerplays, with one of the assists coming from Z. Derrod. Though they weren't done just yet. Miller and Guillaume both scored again to seal the deal for the Tigers. On defense, the Tigers drew nine exclusions and had nine steals, with Stone taking three of those. Final Score: 13-9 Tigers.
