Tigers Win First SCIAC Game of the Season

Whittier, CA — The Occidental Men's Water Polo team played in their first SCIAC game of the season against Whittier College on Wednesday. Danny Miller was the first to score for the Tigers with the assist awarded to Tate Miller (San Anselmo, CA). Shortly after Aiden Cawley (Chicago, IL) shot and scored. In the second quarter the Tigers started to amp up their offense with Christian Guillaume (Ventura, CA) scoring his first two goals of the game. Then, Cawley found the back of the net again on a powerplay. With two seconds left in the first half, Guillaume scored his third goal on a powerplay. After regrouping at half, the Tigers came out even stronger. Guillaume started off the third quarter with a goal with help from T. Miller. Then, Zane Derrod (San Diego, CA) scored his first goal of the game with help from T. Miller. Then, Oliver Wilkins (Seattle, WA) beat the goalie on a powerplay, followed by Z. Derrod scoring again but this time with the assist from Max Stone (San Diego, CA). Stone then scored his own goal in the game with help from Travis Hughes (Corte Madera, CA) on a powerplay. The Tigers kept up the pressure against the Poets in the fourth quarter, with Cawley scoring his third and fourth goal back-to-back, both with help from Hughes. Then, T. Miller added another goal for the Tigers. They didn't stop there though, Z. Derrod shot and scored his third goal with help from Jake Eulenhoefer, followed by a goal from Ryan Tang with the pass coming from Raul Rodriquez (Miami, FL). On defense, the Tigers drew fourteen exclusions and had twelve steals, Stone taking four of them. Final Score: 16-7 Oxy. 

Julien Breck led the Poets with three goals.
