Los Angeles, CA — Occidental's men's soccer team was on the road in Redlands to take on the Bulldogs on Saturday night looking to capture their 4th SCIAC win of the season.Â
Oxy started off with shots from Oury Diane and Andrew Notter that just went slightly wide of the goal on each shot. Oxy was playing strong defense to keep Redlands from getting anything going offensively and limited the Bulldogs 5 shots in the 1st half.Â
The Tigers were able to get on the board first when Tyler Na-Nakornpanom received assists from Vicente Navarro and Aiden Aley and was able to finish off the play with a nice shot that found the back of the net.Â
With a 1-0 lead Oxy continued to play well defensively and keep Redlands off of the board, as the game headed into halftime with the Tigers in the lead.
Diego Cavalie got the Tigers going in the 2nd half with two shots of his own, one of which had to be saved by the Bulldogs goalie to keep Oxy at one score. Oxy continued to create more offensive opportunities than Redlands as Oxy had 13 shots compared to the Bulldog's 6 shots in the 2nd half.
After Riley Nyhan made his 2nd save of the game to keep Oxy's lead at one, Oxy capitalized on one of their 13 2nd half shots when Ethan Carr would make a nice pass to Andrew Notter who was able to score his 8th goal of the season and double Oxy's lead to 2-0.Â
The Tigers would go on to win by this score and secure their 4th SCIAC win of the year, good for most in the SCIAC this season.Â
Oxy will look to continue to play excellent soccer when they face off against the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen in a game at Patterson Field on Wednesday, September 27th at 7pm.
