Los Angeles, CA — The Occidental Men's Soccer team was in action for the first time in the 2023 regular season on Friday night against the Texas Lutheran University Bulldogs.
The game would get off to a relatively slow pace to start off as both teams got into the groove of things. Texas Lutheran had some shot opportunities early but were unable to put anything on goal to make the Occidental goalie Joseph Bassett work.Â
Later on in the 1st half of the game the Tigers would put together a nice string of passes to get Aiden Aley a good look at the goal and he would take a shot towards the goal that was saved by Bulldog goalkeeper Noel Pena.
Christian Corcoran and Evan Karp would also take shots for the Tigers before the half came to a close but neither Tiger put their shot on goal to challenge the goalie. The game would enter the half at a 0-0 tie.Â
The first and only goal of the game would come for TLU in the 20th minute of the 1st half as Miguell Solis snuck one by the Tiger goalie. Texas Lutheran would play solid enough defense to prevent the Tigers from getting any really good looks at the goal and preserve their 1-0 lead until the end of the game.Â
The Tigers will look to rebound against the Marymount Saints on Sunday afternoon.Â
