Pasadena, CA — The Oxy men's basketball team was able to get back into the win column against the Caltech beavers on Monday afternoon.

After the game was tied at 6-6 after 5 minutes of play went by in the game, Oxy would put together a 16-0 offensive run as they were playing strong defense and getting good looks on offense.

Multiple Tigers contributed to putting the run together with scoring and passing and Oxy was up by 22-6 with 8 minutes to go in the first half. The Beavers were trying to put runs together to get back in the game put Oxy was preventing every attempt and the lead got as big as 22 points after a Duncan Ellis tip-in made the score 35-13.

The score entering halftime would be 37-16 and in the 2nd half it would be much of the same. The Tigers were able to run away with this one as Caltech was never really able to get much going in order to cut into the lead.

The Tigers would win by a score of 72-55 to get their 4th win in SCIAC play and improve to 11-3 overall. Multiple Tigers had impressive outings in this game including Micah Breaux, who scored 17 points in 23 minutes off the bench on 7-9 FG.

Andrew Waldman scored 12 points and also made his mark on the game with 5 rebounds, 5 assist, 2 blocks and 3 steals. Jacob Hamermesh and Duncan Ellis each finished the game with 6 points while making all 3 of their field goal attempts.

Oxy will look to build on another all-around great team performance when they take on the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens in Rush Gym on Wednesday, January 17th at 7pm.
