LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Women's soccer faced a tough test against reigning National Champion, Cal Lutheran, falling 3-2 to the Regals.
Â
The Tigers scored the first two goals the Regals have surrendered in SCIAC play in the early season. Occidental converted just its second and third scores of the 2024 campaign.
Â
Clare Madden got the Tigers on the board at the end of the first half, netting a penalty kick goal after a handball in the box. Madden's first of the season tied the game heading into the break.
Â
Cal Lutheran tallied two goals midway through the second half, but Oxy found room on a break and
Mira Lindeman found the back of the net with under 10 to go in the game, keeping the Tigers in it at 3-2.
Â
Another great chance later as the Tigers sent a cross right next to the goal, but the effort from Zakarie Smith came up just short.
Â
The Tigers fell to 0-6-1 on the season and 0-4 in SCIAC play. They return home to face La Verne on Saturday, October 5.
