Cross Country wraps up at DIII West Regionals, women finish ninth

11/17/2024 11:25:00 AM

PORTLAND, Ore. – Cross Country finished an impressive showing at the NCAA Division III West Regionals with the women finishing ninth out of 25 teams and the men placing 16th. Two women finished in the top 50.

Jenna LeNay shattered her previous PR set at the Cougar Challenge in 2023 by 11 seconds. Her new PR of 21:34.1 was good enough for 12th in the field of 175 runners. LeNay's time on Saturday would have put her in second place at the 2023 West Regionals.

Finishing in 12th puts LeNay in a prime spot to return to the NCAA Championships for the second-straight season. She'll need to fall into the top seven of individual runners not attached to a qualifying team. She will find out her fate at the selection show on Sunday, November 17 at 12 p.m. PST.

Megan Cover also posted a PR, finishing in 47th place. She completed the course with a time of 22:52.1.

Jack Elfenbaum was the top runner on the men's side. The sophomore finished 62nd and with a time of 25:56.7 in the 8k. He and Noe Barraza were the lone Tigers to finish in the top 100.
