Los Angeles, CA — Occidental men's basketball battled the Nobel University Knights on New Year's Eve in Rush Gymnasium. 

The Tigers were led early by Nasir Luna who had the team's first 7 points of the game including a 3-pointer. Later on in the first half the Tiger lead was 7 points after Mateo Tangaan knocked down 3's on back to back Tiger possessions. 

After the Knights responded and got the lead down to 2, the Tigers went on a run that was capped off by Alex McCleery Brown cashing in on a 3-point try to stretch the lead back up to 38-30.

A jumper made by Luna to end the half put Oxy up by 12 heading into the halftime break. The 2nd half proved to be more of the same as the Tiger lead never fell back into single digits and even got as high as 31 points after McCleery Brown made a tip-in layup. 

The final score of the game would be 83-65 in favor of the Tigers.The first year duo of Alex McCleery Brown and Nasir Luna shined once again for the Tigers, scoring 24 and 16 points, respectively. 

Henry Wilson also filled up the stat sheet by knocking down to 3-pointers while also grabbing 7 boards and dishing out 7 assists. 

10 different Tiger players scored a basket in the game, and the team shot nearly 50% from the field and 52% from beyond the arc. Oxy totaled 32 points in the paint, 15 second chance points, and 11 points of turnovers. 

Oxy's next game will come in the new year on Thursday, January 2nd in Rush Gymnasium against Skidmore College at 2:00PM.
