Claremont, CA — Oxy's men's basketball team traveled to Claremont to take on the CMS Stags on Wednesday night. 

Andrew Waldman had a made layup early in the game and Aiden Williams knocked down a 3-pointer to give the Tigers an early 6-4 lead. The game was back and forth to start, with 7 lead changes in the first 7 minutes of the contest. With 9 minutes gone by in the 1st half, Jacob Koretz made a layup in the paint to give Oxy a 18-15 lead. 

After the Stags took a 3 point lead, Williams knocked down a jumper to cut the lead to 23-22 with 8 and a half minutes to play. CMS responded with a 7-0 run before Nicky Clotfleter stopped the run with a made layup. 

CMS knocked down back to back 3-pointers to get their lead to 12 but Koretz responded with a 3-pointer of his own to cut the lead to 9 points. The Stags would close out the half on a 12-0 run to take a 48-27 lead into halftime. 

The Stags would continue to shoot efficiently from the floor to prevent any Oxy comebacks in the 2nd half. The final score of the game would be 111-75 in favor of the Stags. For the Tigers, Williams and Koretz each shot the 3-ball efficiently and scored 20 points each in the game. 

Nicky Clotfelter had a solid game for Oxy, scoring 16 points while also grabbing 6 rebounds and dishing out 7 assists. Andrew Waldman scored 15 points to go along with his 6 rebounds and 4 assists. 

The Tigers remain firmly in the hunt for a position in the SCIAC postseason tournament with a 6-5 conference record. Oxy will look to bounce back when they travel to Whittier to take on the Poets on Saturday, February 3rd at 2pm.
