Los Angeles, CA— The Occidental Tigers were in action against the La Sierra Golden Eagles on Friday afternoon on Anderson Field.
Oxy got off to a hot start when Lou Martineau, Tyler Kubo and Jefferey Cambra all started the game with singles. Cambra's single brought in Martineau and gave the Tigers a quick 1-0 in the 1st.
Dante Tardino did not allow a batter to reach base until the 3rd inning, and got the very next batter to hit into a double play. La Sierra tied the game on a home run in the 4th and took the lead on a two run homer in the same inning.
The Golden Eagles would tack on a run in the 5th and 7th and gain a 5-1 lead heading into the 8th inning. The TIgers would refuse to go down without a fight in the 8th inning, as Kubo singled to center and Cambra stepped up to the plate and launched a 2-run homer over the left field fence to bring Oxy to within 2 runs.
Jackson Short would triple in the next Tiger at-bat, followed by Thomas Munch drawing a walk and a Garrett Palme would then reach on a fielders' choice that brought in Short. The Golden Eagles would secure the 3rd out of the inning to get the 5-4 win in 8 innings as the game was called for darkness.
Oxy will face off against La Sierra on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference double header.
