Los Angeles, CA— The Tigers concluded their three game set with the Golden Eagles on Sunday afternoon.
La Sierra quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st, but Oxy responded by getting a run back when Tyler Kubo doubled in Lou Martineau. The Golden Eagles added on one run in the 2nd and another 2 runs in the 3rd.
After La Sierra stretched their lead out to 8-1 in the 5th inning, the Oxy bats got hot at the plate. Mason Olson started the 5th with a walk and got to 2nd on a wild pitch before being brought in to score on a double to left by Jeffery Cambra.
Tyler Kubo and Jackson Short had good at bats and drew walks to load the bases. Alex Henderson stepped up to the plate and connected with a pitch to launch a grand slam over the fence and suddenly make the deficit only 2 runs.
Henderson then got the 7th inning started with a single and was brought in to score on a Martineau sacrifice fly to center field. The Tigers would fall to the Golden Eagles 8-7 after 7 innings of play, but Oxy showed that they can battle back in both Game 1 and 3 of the series against La Sierra.
Oxy will face off against Whitworth in their next 3 game series at Anderson Field next weekend on Friday, February 16th and Saturday, February 17th.
