Los Angeles, CA— The Oxy Tigers baseball team was in action for their 3rd game of a 3 game series against the Centenary Gents on Saturday afternoon.
AJ Naha was keeping the Gents off balance in the first two innings of the game, only allowing two hits and no runs through the 2nd inning. The Gents capitalized on some fielding mistakes by the Tigers in the 3rd inning to score 3 runs, but Oxy got on the board in the bottom half of the 3rd when Jeffery Cambra doubled to score Garrett Palme and make it 3-1.
The Gents would put up a big number in the 7th inning, scoring 5 runs. The Tigers scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th when Ryan Cacatian had an RBI single to score Mason Olson and then Jackson Short doubled to left field to score Alex Henderson.
Centenary would tack on some more runs in the 9th and go on to win 13-3. AJ Naha had another solid start on the mound for the Tigers, pitching 5 innings and only allowing one earned run. Malcolm Munich pitched a scoreless inning of relief in after coming in with runners on in the 9th.
Mason Olson and Jeffery Cmabra were both 3 for 4 from the plate in the game and Ryan Cacatian and Jackson Short had RBIs to add to their solid weekend at the plate.
The Tigers will look to get SCIAC play off to a strong start when they travel to Pasadena to take on the Caltech Beavers on Friday, March 1st.
