Los Angeles, CA— Oxy's baseball team played host to the Centenary College Gents on Friday afternoon.
Oxy got on the board first when Jackson Short bunted home Tyler Kubo in the 2nd inning. Centenary would score the next 5 runs of the game in the next 3 innings, including a 2-run homer in the 5th.
The Tigers would chip into the lead on Lou Martineau RBI groundout in the bottom half of the 5th that scored Jackson Short. The Gents tacked on an insurance run with a sac fly in the 6th, but the Tigers would get a rally going in the bottom of the 8th.
Miles Capobianco started off the 8th inning for Oxy with a bang by blasting the first pitch he saw over the Anderson Field scoreboard to cut into the lead. After Lou Martineau and Alex Henderson reached base, Tyler Kubo brought in Martineau with an RBI double and Oxy was only down 2 runs.
Thomas Munch brought in Henderson and the score was 6-5 with a runner still on base, but the Gents made clutch pitches to get out of the jam and would go on to win the game by a score of 6-5.
Oxy got a strong start from Declan Sklut in the game, as he pitched 5.1 innings allowing 4 earned runs and striking out 5 batters. Wyatt Zadoorian and Jake Moore each pitched scoreless innings in relief.
