Distance Carnival and Spring Break Classic

Los Angeles, CA – The annual Oxy Distance Carnival and Spring Break Classic track meet last weekend once again showcased thrilling competition and outstanding performances from collegiate athletes across the board.  

 

Men's team highlights:

 
  • Harrison Williams secured third place in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a commendable time of 16.56.

  • The 4x100 meter relay, consisting of Zachary McGraw, Emerson Ames, Oliver Yue, and Tobias Searcy-Jorgensen, put on a strong display, finishing in fourth with a time of 42.97.

  • Renn Stearns exhibited excellence by clinching second place in the 3000 meter steeplechase with an impressive time of 9:27.58.

  • Matthew Avery soared to new heights, finishing 10th in the pole vault with a height of 3.75 meters (12'3.5"), setting a new personal record.

  • Emerson Ames showcased his versatility by securing fourth place in the long jump with a distance of 6.50 meters (21'4"), setting a new personal record.

  • Nico Morales exhibited his skill in the javelin throw, finishing 10th with a distance of 42.49 meters (139'5"), nearing his lifetime best.

  • Warren Cruser impressed in the triple jump, finishing sixth with a distance of 11.98 meters (39'3.75"), marking significant improvement in his personal record.

 

Women's team highlights:

 
  • Eliza Hawley demonstrated her dominance by securing second place in the 400 meter dash with an exceptional time of 57.23, setting a new lifetime record, posting the number two time in the country, and advancing to seventh All Time Oxy.

  • Jenna LeNay finished sixth in the 5000 meter run with a time of 17:32.62, just three seconds off of her lifetime best.

  • Amelia Weitz and Emily Dolida showcased their improvement in women's long jump, finishing eighth and tenth, respectively, with lifetime bests.  Weitz leaped 4.93 meters (16'2.25") and Dolida jumped 4.92 meters (16'1.75").  Dolida continued her success in the triple jump, finishing fourth with a distance of 10.17 meters (33'4.5").

  • Kate Cobain continues to improve in the javelin throw.  She finished in fifth place with a throw of 31.23 meters (102'5") and set a new personal record.

  • Gabriella Knutsen continued her strong performance securing fifth place in the shot put and seventh in the discus throw.

  • Chelsea Groves finished in eighth place in the shot put with a personal record throw of 10.22 meters (33'6.5").

  • Sky Garcia continued the momentum in shot put with a lifetime best of her own and a ninth place finish.  Garcia threw 9.99 meters (32'9.5").
