Los Angeles, CA— The Occidental Tigers baseball team was in action for their 2nd SCIAC series of the season against the University of La Verne Leopards.
AJ Naha was on the mound for the Tigers and induced a ground ball double play that 2nd baseman Sancho Llamas made a nice play on in the 1st inning after hitting the first batter of the game.
Naha also worked around a leadoff single to fire another scoreless inning in the 2nd, with help from Thomas Munch making a nice throw to 2nd base to catch the runner stealing. In the 3rd inning, Sancho Llamas made a nice play going to his right and throwing across his body to get the runner at 1st base.
Oxy would score the first run of the game after Thomas Munch walked and was advanced on a sac bunt by Nick Gonzalez and a ground ball by Jeffery Cambra before scoring on a wild pitch to make it 1-0 Tigers.
The Leopards responded by scoring 3 runs in the 4th inning and then would tack on 2 runs in both the 5th and 6th innings. ULV would go on to secure a win by the score of 13-1.
With the loss, Oxy falls to 3-1 in SCIAC play and they will travel to La Verne on Saturday, March 16th to play a doubleheader vs. the Leopards.
