Los Angeles, CA — The Occidental Women's Water Polo team played the La Verne Leopards on Saturday morning. The first quarter started off with a back and forth battle to score, until Koko Butcher (Honolulu, HI) beat the goalie with twenty-nine seconds left in the quarter. Jillian Miller (Irvine, CA) was credited with the assist. In the next quarter, the Tigers hit a rough patch and didn't score, but that didn't stop them from coming out full force in the second half of the game. Marisa Lipari (Sunnyvale, CA) scored on a beautiful shot with the pass from Claire Bricknell (Seattle, WA). Then with twenty seconds left, Bella Wilde (Eugene, OR) scored with the assist going to Ruby Vogel (San Mateo, CA). In the fourth quarter, freshman Tori Carlson (La Verne, CA) scored her first collegiate goal, with the pass coming from Miller. Then to finish the Tiger offense off, Rebekah Harkins (Miami, FL) deposited a shot in the cage with help from Butcher. On defense, the Tigers drew eleven exclusions and had six steals. Reiley Burton and Sumi Rudisky led La Verne with three goals each.
