Whittier, CA — The Occidental Women's Water Polo team traveled to Whittier on Saturday for an exciting game against the Whittier Poets. Cate Sloat (Austin, TX) was the first to score for the Tigers on the first possession of the game. Then, Jillian Miller (Irvine, CA) found the back of the net again with help from Sloat. In the second quarter, Koko Butcher (Honolulu, HI) scored on a powerplay with the pass from Marisa Lipari (Sunnyvale, CA). In the second half, the Tigers ramped up on offense, with Bella Wilde (Eugene, OR) depositing a shot into the net with help from Miller. Then, Butcher scored again on a one-on-goalie, with the pass coming from Miller. Shortly after, Ruby Vogel (San Mateo, CA) beat the goalie with the assist awarded to Butcher. In the fourth quarter, Sloat shot and scored again with the pass from freshman Tori Carlson (La Verne, CA). On the next possession, Norah Ruvalcaba (Moreno Valley, CA) deposited a shot in the goal with the pass from Lipari. Miller finished the game off with a goal in the last minute, with the assist going to goalie Alex Moye (San Diego, CA). On defense, the Tigers drew eight exclusions, and had eight steals. Chloe Gardhouse and Jaycee Morris led Whittier with three goals each.
