Claremont, CA— The Occidental baseball team traveled to Claremont to take on the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens in a SCIAC matchup on Friday afternoon.Â
Declan Sklut was on the mound for the Tigers and was able to locate pitches to get big outs to evade trouble in the first two innings and prevent any runs from scoring. The Sagehens would get on the board first with an RBI single in the 3rd inning before breaking through for four more runs in the 4th.Â
The Sagehen starting pitcher was locating the ball well and making pitcher's pitches to make things difficult for Tiger batters throughout the game. Pomona-Pitzer would go on to win the game 12-1.Â
Sklut totaled 4.1 innings and 5 strikeouts in the game. Ben Rutkin pinch hit for Oxy and went 1-1 with a run scored and Ryder Banks also pinch hit and went 1-1 with an RBI. Oxy will play two more against the Sagehens over the weekend.
